Get an error when creating a table caption, the caption is made but I cannot not refer to the table

When I am creating a table caption in my doc I get the error " Error :ScriptError: LIST_ITEM can’t be cast to PARAGRAPH." However, the table caption is still made.

When I click on the “Refer Table” button the same error notification pops up (" Error :ScriptError: LIST_ITEM can’t be cast to PARAGRAPH."). This time the table reference is not made.

Even with no table captions created in the document the same error message appears if you click the “Refer Table” button. I’ve gotten this issue to reoccur in multiple Google Docs.

I am creating a large Latex file that will combine several docs and the Docx2Latex add-on is very helpful in keeping my references updated, can you help me fix this issue?

This happens when table of caption got nested in LIST environment.
Please make sure that none of the table captions are formatted as list and try again.

It is not in a list environment (at least to my knowledge). The is the code of the table caption with surrounding lines:

I don’t use lists directly before or after the table, but there are lists in the document (all lists before the table are ended before the paragraph in front of the table). Are they the issue still? How can I ensure the table caption is not nested in a list environment?

Even if one table is having the issue, it will cause this error. So you will have to go through each table and make sure that the previous list environment is not being continued to the table.

Yes, indeed the issue happens later in the document (I have 5 tables in this doc and in the Latex Source Code file I see that Table 3 I see an itemize list is not closed before the table).

Yes, as you said, table number 3 is inside list environment. You will have to change Google Docs document accordingly to fix this.

Beside rewriting my text in a new Google Docs document, I wouldn’t know how to fix this outside of manually editing the Latex source code whenever this doc is updated. Is there a way to close the list environment in Google Docs?

Look for open list environment after the table.

The issue is fixed in the doc. I created captions for several tables and referred to them. However I get the same error in other Google docs (I assume for similar reasons), so I want to understand:

So the problem was with table number 4.

If you want to start list environment after table, there is 1 blank line between the bottom of table and start of list environment after table.
